Ile de la Cité, 75001 Paris
Metro station : Pont Neuf

The Pétanque Afternoon: I highly recommend visiting in the late afternoon to witness locals playing a traditional game of pétanque under the chestnut trees; the triangular square offers a cinematic and peaceful escape from the crowds, making it one of the best spots on the Île de la Cité to enjoy a quiet coffee or a casual picnic.

There are only two buildings that remain of the district created by Henri IV in 1607, both located towards the Pont Neuf.

Other original buildings were demolished or enhanced from the 18th century onward.

The site is now home to numerous art galleries and cafés, and has retained its peaceful calm of long ago.

My Tip: To see the medieval highlights, this is the experience I suggest.
